Description

Subject Area: Japanese Studies

The course provides a late intermediate level program in Japanese language study. Similar to 'Advanced Japanese A', a prerequisite for this course, students continue to develop their intercultural communication skills in an adult Japanese speaking environment while learning more about Japan and the Japanese. They also learn new Japanese structures, expressions, and vocabulary.

In vocabulary learning, students learn 240 kanji. They are taught through six social/cultural topics:

1 Health,
2 University students in Japan,
3 Japanese organisation,
4 Responding to praise,
5 Refusing a request,
6 Making a request politely.

In each topic, students learn the current socio-cultural issues in Japan. They also analyse the differences and similarities and how they can deal with a situation related to the topics.
