Description


Development of ships and shipbuilding. Ship types. Methods of ship design. Estimation of a ship’s dimensions, weights, and capacity. Computer-aided representation of hull shape and drawings. Load lines and freeboard. Tonnage. The ocean environment and seakeeping.
Propeller and waterjet terminology, theories of action, interaction with the hull, cavitation, engine and waterjet data, design of propellers and waterjets, practical details and drawing, strength, estimation of polar moment of inertia and entrained water.
