Program Structure
Students must complete 96 UOC when taken as a standalone program.
The program consists of a sequence of compulsory and elective units, including six core education units, four subject teaching area units (called methods), three electives, and two professional experience placements, including an internship.
The program requires students to study two single teaching specialisations, or one double teaching specialisation (available only for English, Mathematics, Music and Visual Arts) from those methods listed below. Applicants require a recognised Bachelor degree with studies in the relevant teaching specialisation(s):
First teaching specialisation – a major, consisting of a sequence of at least six units of undergraduate study in a teaching area, with no more than two at first year and at least two at third year.
Additional teaching specialisation – a minor consisting of a sequence of at least four units of undergraduate study in a teaching area, with at least two of these at second year or above).

- Languages: French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and /or Korean (A high level of competence in spoken and written language is required. A minor without prior studies or background in the language is usually insufficient to qualify as a teacher of the language).

Participation and Enrolment Requirements
For accreditation as a teacher in NSW, all teacher education students will need to meet the Participation and Enrolment Requirements set by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
