The Capstone Project is undertaken in the last study period prior to graduation and gives MCCL students the opportunity to integrate their previous studies, consolidate their skills, address authentic problems and develop a strong identity as a professional in the cultural industries. The internship option involves a project-based industry placement with a minimum of 150 hours. Internships enable students to gain practical, supervised experience in an organisational context. Internships should be organised before the commencement of term. The independent project option requires students to develop, execute and evaluate a cultural project such as exhibition, exhibition proposal or exhibition grant application, screenings, discussions, performances, festivals, websites and site-specific events. Individual or team projects are developed in consultation with the lecturer. Students are individually supervised and submit reports on the progress and completion of the project. For both options students are supported through online forums, and professional and peer support workshops. Successful completion of the course requires the submission of an initial, ongoing and final reports. SAHT9118 is ungraded.
