Description

The course introduces students to the contemporary human resource management (HRM) issues and practices facing construction organisations in the changing business environment. The course content covers HRM concepts, theories and practical considerations of how people behave in construction organisation and how they respond to HR policies and practices (i.e. organisational behaviour). It draws together current perspectives from psychology, management, sociology, behavioural sciences and construction management disciplines to provide students with a comprehensive view of potential issues and challenges in HRM, and how and why effective HR policies and practices affect organisational performance. The course is structured around a series of lectures and guest lectures.
