Description
Furniture and lighting design plays a large role in the fabrication of our domestic landscapes. Changes are occurring in the way people live and the notion of large domestic space is becoming less popular. This course presents students with the opportunity to explore contemporary practices in relation to furniture and lighting design in order to transform the domestic landscape. The course will cover a brief history of interior space and the role of furniture and lighting design within this context. Students will be given the opportunity to respond to the domestic landscape with a suitable design solution. Depending on the complexity of the solution, students will build the entire furniture/lighting solution or a subset of furniture/lighting from the solution. The complexity of the final design will determine whether the student must deliver a completed piece of furniture/lighting or a model of the furniture/lighting.
