Description


This course will provide students with contextual knowledge of weapons and surveillance systems - including the modelling and simulation of these systems. Students will be exposed to different military systems, analytical techniques and data sources so that credible and informed advice can be given on usage and acquisition decisions. Topics include: surveillance operations, environmental characteristics, analysis concepts, Radar, IR, visible, multisensor environments, GIS, GPS, weapons in combat operations, weapons effects (kinetic, fragment, blast, non lethal weapon), missiles, rockets and sensor/seeker countermeasures, small arms, artillery, naval gunnery, air dropped bombs, torpedos, depth charges, agent modelling of surveillance and combat operations, wargames, Lanchaster equations, and case studies in military decision making.
